Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 22, 2026 · Last updated: May 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how LightCue (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) handles information when you use the LightCue iOS application. We’ve kept it short because there isn’t much to explain — LightCue runs entirely on your device and does not send your data to us or to anyone else.

Summary

Data we access on your device

LightCue requests permission to use the following on-device capabilities. Each is used only for the feature it powers, and the data never leaves your device.

Camera

LightCue uses your device’s camera to analyze the live scene for light metering, white balance estimation, and depth-of-field measurement. It also captures reference frames when you tap save. Camera frames are processed in memory only — they are not recorded, stored, or transmitted unless you explicitly save a photo to your Photos library.

Photo Library

When you tap save, LightCue writes captured reference frames (with optional film-edge watermarks containing your chosen exposure settings) to the Photos app. LightCue can only add new photos; it cannot read your existing library.

Location (optional)

If you enable Save Location in Settings, LightCue uses your device’s location to tag saved photos with the GPS coordinates of where they were taken. The coordinates are written into the photo’s standard EXIF metadata and stored only inside the photo file. Location is read only at the moment you save a photo and is never transmitted to us or stored separately. Disabling the toggle, denying the system permission, or revoking access in iOS Settings turns this off entirely.

Settings stored on your device

LightCue saves your preferences (selected film stock, ISO, exposure step granularity, control side, and similar settings) using Apple’s standard UserDefaults storage. This data is local to your device and is included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled — that backup is encrypted and managed by Apple, not by us.

Subscriptions and in-app purchases

LightCue Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. All transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. To verify your subscription status, the app uses Apple’s StoreKit framework to check your entitlement directly with Apple — we do not run our own subscription server.

For information about how Apple handles your payment data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions, or via apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Children’s privacy

LightCue is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, regardless of age.

International users

Because LightCue does not collect personal data, no data crosses borders. The app functions identically wherever you use it.

Third parties

LightCue does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. The only external service the app communicates with is Apple’s App Store for subscription verification.

Changes to this policy

If we change how LightCue handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected in an updated app version or a prompt within the app.
